What does 420 mean?

In terms of its origin, the most feasible story is that the term four twenty started in 1971 with a group of school kids from the San Rafael school in California who started using the code 420 in reference to going for a smoke after class.

20th April is when World Marijuana Day is celebrated, a date which is marked on the calendar for fans of this plant which has been so popular for so many decades. The origins of this celebration date back again to the year 1971, when the same group of California school kids used to meet up at 4:20 PM to smoke marijuana. From there, in memory of this, the 20th day of the fourth month (April) was established as a special day for cannabis smokers, later becoming World Marijuana Day.
