Hydroponisches Marihuana: Anbau auf Hydrokultur

Guides

Hydroponics for marijuana is the latest innovation for cannabis crops. However, let’s be clear; hydroponics was not invented in the 21st century, but with today’s technology and the expertise of some industry professionals, the hydroponic growing technique of these plants has gone from strength to strength. Let’s find out more!

What is Hydroponics for Marijuana?

The hydroponic growing of marijuana uses techniques so that the plant’s growth and development is based on a nutrient solution, rather than being directly influenced by the soil.

Hydroponics aims to maximize the performance of your crop and, above all, to carefully control the nutrients that your plants receive.

Therefore, hydroponic marijuana per se is any plant that has been grown using these techniques.

Hydroponics Techniques

The reality is that there are many hydroponics techniques. When it comes to the most well-known, we have to focus on the following:

  • Ebb and Flow system: the growing tray is flooded with a nutrient solution and then drained.
  • NFT system: a continuous nutrient solution is constantly pumped right down to the roots.
  • Krafty method: plants are grown in mesh containers and the roots are in a nutrient solution. There is an air chamber between the nutrient solution and the plant to aerate the roots.
  • DWC system: this is the same system as the Krafty method, but the plant is aerated using air stones.
  • Drip system: the nutrients are in an external container and drip on to the plants with the help of a pump and air stones.
  • Wick system: this combines two containers, one with a substrate in and another with a nutritive solution. No air pump is required because there are holes that allow the oxygen in.
  • Aeroponics: spray irrigation system for plants located on top of a water tank.

Tips for Growing Hydroponic Marijuana

Regardless of the hydroponic marijuana system we choose, it is important to keep a constant eye on our crop.

Here are a few tips to keep your plants growing to perfection!:

  • Keep full control of the pH, ideally 5.5 to 5.8, less during flowering which is better at 6.
  • Have a stable water temperature of around 20ºC.
  • This ensures that the plants receive the right amount of nutrients at the optimum rate.
  • Maximum cleanliness, so that there is no chance of any kind of contamination.
  • There are some marijuana plants that are more suitable for hydroponic growing. It is best if they are small and compact.

Resources Used for Hydroponic Growing

In addition to the hydroponic marijuana growing technique you choose, there are also several resources available. These are the most common:

  • Rockwool: with a high capacity to retain water and ensure root aeration.
  • Coconut fiber: this has excellent moisture retention and also keeps the pH balanced.
  • Clay pebbles: recommended for fast drainage, very good when it comes to aeration.
  • Perlite: with high porosity, the substance is ideal for oxygenating the roots.

Benefits of a Hydroponic Marijuana Crop

Do you go for a hydroponic crop or a soil grown crop? It is up to you, of course, but it is important that you know what these hydroponics techniques can offer you.

The most significant benefits of hydroponics with marijuana crops are the following:

  • The plants grow faster, much faster! Up to 50% sometimes.
  • It also offers higher yields per plant and per crop area.
  • Efficient water use reduces consumption and waste.
  • Much less space is required.
  • You have full control over your crop, thanks to the pH settings, nutrients settings, etc.
  • There is a much smaller risk of contamination and diseases.

Effects of Hydroponic Marijuana

There are clear benefits when it comes to growing the plants; but what about the marijuana that is produced? What happens when you mix it with tobacco in your rolling papers and your Smoking tips?

As is always the case when it comes to smoking, every opinion differs. Many people agree that the effects of hydroponic marijuana are stronger and come on more quickly in comparison to traditional marijuana.

There are also people who consider that the taste of soil grown marijuana is more intense and authentic.

In the end it all comes down to personal tastes, as well as on the amount and strain of marijuana you use.
